Vacuum filter/storage bottle systems are laboratory devices that allow for the filtration of liquid samples using vacuum pressure. They consist of a filtration unit with a porous membrane and a storage bottle attached to a vacuum source. As the liquid sample is drawn through the membrane by vacuum pressure, impurities and particulates are trapped on the surface of the membrane, while the filtrate is collected in the attached storage bottle.
Vacuum filter/storage bottle systems can also be used for the concentration and desalting of proteins, DNA, and other biomolecules. By removing unwanted impurities and concentrating the desired molecules, these systems help to improve the efficiency and accuracy of downstream analyses.
