Cell culture media, Ham’s F12, VWR®,500 mL
Description
Ham’s F12 was developed for growth of primary rat hepatocytes and rat prostate epithelial cells. Also used in a clonal toxicity assay using CHO cells. It is frequently used with supplements for serum-free cultures to support the growth of cells of rodent origin, or as a cloning medium for the culture of myeloma and hybrid cells.
Ham’s F12 cell culture media by VWR® is a liquid medium that is specifically designed for the growth and maintenance of a variety of cell lines in vitro. The medium is formulated based on the original Ham’s F12 medium, which was developed in 1965 by R. G. Ham to support the growth of cells in vitro.
The Ham’s F12 medium contains a variety of nutrients, vitamins, and other supplements that are essential for cell growth and survival. The medium is supplemented with L-glutamine, which is an amino acid that is required for protein synthesis, and is also rich in vitamins such as riboflavin, niacin, and thiamine.
The medium is also supplemented with a variety of salts and minerals, including calcium, magnesium, and potassium, which help to maintain the osmotic balance of the cells and promote cell growth.
The Ham’s F12 medium is suitable for the growth and maintenance of a wide variety of cell lines, including human and animal cells. The medium is often used in a variety of applications, including cell culture, transfection, and cell-based assays
