Cholesterol is a compound naturally produced in animal cells and is an integral part of the cell membrane structure. It is often used in the preparation of liposomes that are used for controlled drug release. Cholesterol has even been observed to be an effective growth supplement in cell culture media.
This Ultra Pure Grade Cholesterol is suitable for use in cell culture at around 3% concentration.
