Description
Tetracycline Hydrochloride is a bacteriostatic antibiotic with activity against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Tetracycline Hydrochloride binds the 30S subunit of the ribosome, preventing the binding of aminoacyl transfer RNA thereby inhibiting protein synthesis and cell growth. Tetracycline Hydrochloride is used as a selective marker for the transformation of plasmids encoding for tetracycline resistance. Tetracycline Hydrochloride is of a Biotechnology Grade.
